Goat Island which is near to Warkworth is the oldest marine reserve in New Zealand.  Early European explorers often called any small coastal island without fresh water as "Goat Island" as goats could be left there to provide food for possible shipwreck survivors.

Marine reserve protects representative coast and leaving it in its nature state.  Goat Island has crystal clear water, and is rich in fish and other marine life.  Visitors will have the opportunity t view the marine life either by snorkeling, diving, or just walking on the rocks.

不要捕捉鱼类或是喂鱼
更不可留下任何垃圾

Visitors are advised to leave every creature and area in the reserve in its natural state.  Do not fishing or feeding, they are good at finding their own food.  Lastly, remember to take our own rubbish home.

Goat Island is suitable for swimming, snorkeling, diving and kayaking.  Snorkel hire is available at the coast.  Another choice to view the marine life in a dry way is to take the Glass Bottom Boat which depart on 9am every weekend, the fee for each person will be $75.

There is a small waterfall at the end of the beach, Marine Discovery Centre and a walk way are also nearby.  This place is suitable for a family weekend outing.

沃克沃思奥马哈海滩 Warkworth Omaha Beach

靠近沃克沃思的奥马哈海滩
是冲浪和帆板爱好者的天堂
这里的沙滩坡度平缓
也没有危险的海洋生物
因此非常适合游泳和冲浪

Omaha Beach which is near to Warkworth is a great place for people to surf and paddleboard. The slope is gentle and the beach is free from harmful sea lives which make it suitable to swim and surf.

意思是欢乐的地方
这里的沙有超过70%含石英砂成分
也因此造就了这里的白沙滩

Omaha means "place of pleasure" in Maori. The beach sediment composition is over 70% quartz sand, which gifted the beach the natural white appearance.

Summer is the peak season for surfing.  In order to secure the safety of the visitors, lifeguards are on duty all summer which is very considerate.

又紧靠天然河口

There is a large field next to the beach for public use. Next to it is the Omaha Beach Golf Club, with its scenic location sitting next to the beach and Omaha estuary.

Here provides the basic facilities such as the toilet and bathroom.  There are also hotplates for cooking available here.

想离开城市到小地方走走？
周末到马塔卡纳的农贸市集是个不错的选择

Thinking of going out from the city and visit a village? A weekend to the Matakana Farmers' Market could be a right choice.

每个星期六的早上8点至中午1点
马塔卡纳的农贸市集都吸引大批的人潮
这个市集非常有名
除了吃的喝的用的
还可买到许多手工艺品、手工啤酒、自制奶酪等
许多当地人带上自己的有机农作物、手工作品到此兜售

Open every Saturday from 8am to 1pm, Matakana Farmers’ Market attracts a large crowd of people. This market does not only sell food and drinks, but also very popular of artisan, locally-brewed beer, home-made cheese and lots of other items.

Local growers and farmers gather here with their organic crops and handcraft items for sales.

马塔卡纳是个宁静的小镇

Matakana is a quiet and small village, it is comfortable and relaxing. The seats for the stalls selling food also pay a lot of detail with the decoration. Beside the stalls is a stream where lots of people sitting next to the stream and enjoy the nice food and good view.

There is also an opportunity shop near to the Farmers’ Market. Every Saturday it is only open from 10am to 12pm， but it is also open on Wednesday and Friday.

Here is able to buy some second hand clothes, kitchenware, furniture and other old goodies with very low price.

There are also some shops nearby where we can find supermarkets, book stores, skincare shops, fashion stores and cinema. Visitors are able to spend quite sometimes here.

The Honey Centre at Warkworth provides an experience of honey to their visitors. They strive to produce the best honey in New Zealand but not just about selling honey.

The Honey Centre is open daily except closed on Christmas Day and the morning of Anzac Day. The operating hour is from 8.30am to 5pm.

One of the weekend markets in New Zealand is the Mangere Market, which trade from 7am to 2pm every Saturday at Mangere Town Centre. Numbers of stalls stood up at the car park and great quantity of vegetables and fruits for customers to choose from.

Lots of locals come here to do their weekly purchase.

Here not only have a large variety of vegetables and fruits, but also very fresh.  Visitors will be able to find a lot of cheap yet good items here.

奥克兰佛光山 Auckland Fo Guang Shan

虽然纽西兰的主要宗教信仰是基督教

Although Christianity is the predominant religion in New Zealand, it also supports the freedom of conscience and belief. Fo Guang Shan temple, which is the largest temple in New Zealand, is located at Auckland, North Island.

Fo Guang Shan temple is open from Tuesday to Sunday, 9am to 5pm, as well as public holidays. It welcomes both Buddhists and non-Buddhists to pay a visit and also provide activities and classes to the public, such as Tai Chi, Dharma classes and Chinese calligraphy. Furthermore, English Dharma & Meditation Classes are also provided to fit into the requirement in New Zealand.

Fo Guang Chinese School provide an excellent learning environment and foster talents through education.

The temple was designed in the architectural style of the Tang Dynasty, which carries meaning with the different part of the designs. Such as the lattice shape field in front of the main hall allude cultivated field, which need to be hardworking, firm and patient to be successful, same as the path of Dharma and Meditation.

奥克兰胡努瓦地区公园 Auckland Hunua Ranges Regional Park

胡努瓦地区公园位于奥克兰东南区
有多条的河流和溪流
其中最著名的当属胡努瓦瀑布
短程的20分钟步道即可来回

Hunua Ranges Regional Park located at the southeast of Auckland, it contains many rivers and streams, including Hunua Falls which is a popular tourist spot in the Ranges. Hunua Falls walk loop walk is a short walk which only takes 20 minutes return.

除了短程的胡努瓦瀑布步行道外
这里也有较长的步行道
让游客走入大自然
胡努瓦地区公园除了供公共休闲用途外

共有四个蓄水池

Despite the short distance walk way to Hunua Falls, there are also some other longer track for visitor to walk into the nature.

Hunua Ranges not only used for visiting purpose, but also serve as water reservoirs. There are four dams in total and trout fishing is available here.

The track is easy but there are also some steep climbs along the way. Visitor can also enjoy bird watching in the range.

Don’t forget to brush your shoes before entering or leaving.

Kauri is one of the native plants in New Zealand which is currently which is currently facing a new threat from a fungus-type disease, the kauri dieback disease. Any movement of soil could spread the disease.

Help to prevent the spread of disease, stay on the pathway and clean your boots and equipment.
