陶朗加莫图里基岛 Tauranga Moturiki Island

陶朗加的莫图里基岛
是纽西兰其中一个最容易进入的小岛
一条人工填土的道路
连接着芒格努伊山的沙滩与小岛
岛里步道平坦易行
只需10分钟即可抵达终点

Moturiki island located in Tauranga is one of the most accessible island in New Zealand.  It is connected to Mount Maunganuui's main beach by a man-made land bridge.  The walkway is flat and easy, it took only 10 minutes to reach the end of the track.


这里的历史丰富
曾是毛利部落居住的地方
1900年代初又成了采石场
之后则改为娱乐用途
1966年开了水族馆
15年后又改建成了之后大为人知的“休闲岛”
有游泳池、水上滑梯和高尔夫球场等
直到1990年关闭

The island is full of history, it used to be inhabited by Maori settlers, and later established as a quarry in early 1900s.  It was later being used for tourist attractions.  In the beginning an aquarium was built in 1966 fifteen years later it was replaced by another venture and it is still known until today as the "Leisure Island". There are large pools for swimming, waterslide and golf course and it operated until 1990.

Recent year volunteers and the staffs from Tauranga City Council are working on to revert the island back to its natural state and it continues to attract a steady stream of people.  The end of the track offer a spectacularly shoots water skyward and enjoy the view back towards the beach and Mauao.


这里沙滩也可捕捉鲍鱼、海胆、蚌
但切记需遵守规定
不可过度捕捉
附近也有许多档口
在大热天不妨来个冰淇淋解暑

Visitors are also able to collect paua, kina and mussel at the beach but the daily limit must be strictly followed.  There are also a lot of stalls nearby, why don't have an ice cream at the hot weather.

陶朗加毛奥历史保护区 Tauranga Mauao Historic Reserve

距离陶朗加不远你的芒格努伊山
是当地重要的旅游胜地
其中最著名的
就是毛奥这座古老的休眠火山

Not far away from Tauranga, Mount Maunganui is a well-known tourist spot.  Out of it, Mauao which is an extinct volcanic cone is the most visited venue around this area.


毛奥历史保护区共有几条步道
山脚下有全长3.4公里的步行道
全程都能近距离欣赏海景
而通往山顶的步道
更是风景宜人

There are several tracks in Mauao Historic Reserve.  The track at the base of the mountain is 3.4km long, offering magnificent views of the open ocean, and the track to the summit is even more impressive.


毛奥高达海拔232米
通往山顶共有几条步道
约40分钟即可抵达山顶
但这里日晒严重
沿途只有极少的大树遮顶
应携带足够的饮水和做好防晒

Mauao is 232 metres above sea level, there are several tracks to reach the summit and it took only 40 minutes.  But the sun is hot and the track is open, thus it is important to take plenty of water and apply sunscreen.

 
虽然山路险峻
但山顶上却可享受360度的无敌海景
山顶也有一片空地
和一张桌子供游客休息、野餐

Although the track is steep and hard, you will be rewarded with the 360 degree view.  There are plenty of room at the summit and a picnic table for visitor to rest and picnic.

怀希窗口步道 Waihi Window Walk

走上吊桥越过河流
走过一条废弃铁道线
穿过一个险峻的风景峡谷
位于卡朗格哈克峡谷的窗口步道
绝对不可错过

Step off the swing bridge across the river, follow the tram tracks and walk through a spectacular gorge.  Window Walkway located at Karangahake Gorge is not to be missed.


卡朗格哈克峡谷历史步道全长7公里
窗口步道是它的一个分岔
这里曾是重要的采矿中心
虽然修复工作在进行中
但全程仍保留了当年黄金开采的历史遗迹

Karangahake Gorge Historical Walkway is 7km long and Window Walkway is an extended route out from it.  It used to be an important gold mining site.  Restoration work was carrying on but the track had maintained the original look of the old time.


由于步道沿着奥西尼穆里河而建
因此步道的开始是一座吊桥
并根据旧时一道铁路路线而建
这里水流奔腾
冲撞着岩石激起无数浪花

The walkway begins with a swing bridge as it was built along the Ohinemuri River, following the route of an old tram track.  The river flow rapidly hitting the rocks and create the splashes.


经过了美丽的峡谷
跟随旧铁路进入了废弃的挖金隧道
建议携带手电筒
虽然前部分的隧道有“窗口”可透入光线
但后段却是一片黑暗
借此体验当年矿工在隧道中工作的情景

Crossing the scenery gorge and follow the old tram track into the gold mining tunnels, it is recommended to bring a torch light.  The first few sections are visible from the light through the "window" but the last section is dark. It allows visitors to experience the working environment of the miners in the old time.


透过山洞中的“窗口”
是观赏峡谷的绝佳地点
还有旧时留下的发电机、地底烘炉
和运载金矿的工具

The "windows" are great places to look down in to the gorge.  It also allows visitors to explore the old batteries, old underground ovens and the tools used to transport the gold in the old time.

怀希 Waihi

纽西兰有许多因淘金而兴旺的小镇
在北岛，就有一个著名的采金小镇-怀希
从1800年代后期挖掘出金矿
瞬间成为世界上最重要的金矿和银矿供应之一
虽然因金矿开采完毕而一度关闭
但矿区目前已重开

Lots of the small towns in New Zealand were growing fast due to gold fever.  Waihi which located at North Island is one of it.

Since late 1800s the gold-bearing quartz was found, it becomes one of the most important gold and silver mines in the world. Although the original mine was closed due to the end of extraction, it is already re-open and the operating continue until today.


矿区取名为玛撒矿
在1952年关闭矿区前是个地底隧道
石头从地底炸开
工人和马车在地底暗无天日的工作了无数的日月年
造就了一个16层深近600米，全场175公里的隧道
由于一路向下挖掘
积水越多
当年制造并使用的康尼希抽水站
成了采矿业的骄傲
如今也被迁移至市中心

It is named as Martha Mine and when the original mine closed in 1952 it is an underground tunnel where rock was blasted underground and men and horses worked and lived underground for most of the year.

There were 16 different levels of tunnels to a depth of almost 600 metres with 175kilometres of tunnels altogether.  The Cornish pump which was the pride of the mining industry was built to cope with the increasing quantities of water as the mine goes to the final depth of 600 metres.  It is not relocated to the town city.

Until late 1970s the new Martha project becomes the major hard rock mining. The open pit was extended with the help of technology and it result in a huge open mining hole in the city.

或是参加由采矿公司定期举办的教育团
市区也离海边不远
驱车即可前往

Waihi is now quiet and peaceful.  Go for a walk in the city and walkway, or join the educational tour conducted by the mining company.

The city is also not far away from the beach, it is very convenience located within driving distance.

泰晤士 Thames

泰晤士是前往科罗曼德的必经之地
在1800年代的淘金热潮时
曾经繁华兴盛但随着金矿被开发殆尽
这里也开始没落

Thames is the gateway to the Coromandel. It used to grow rapidly in the 1800s due to gold mining.  However, due to the gold ran out, so as the number of inhabitants.


这个小镇悠闲、宁静
含有丰富的淘金历史背景
留下了许多百年建筑
其中包括了旧火车站
市中心还立了战争纪念碑

The small town is peaceful and quiet, it is proud of its heritage in gold mining and lots of the heritage houses are still remain in the town.  Some of the heritage buildings are the old railway station and the War Memorial Monument.


泰晤士沿着泰晤士河口湾
靠近怀霍河
离市区不远便可看到
附近还有许多自然景观和步道
即使是行驶在公路上风景也是美不胜收

Thames is located on the Firth of Thames close to the mouth of the Waihou River.  It i not far away from city, and there are a lot of natural views and walks around the town.  Even the view on the State Highway can be stunning.

可以参观、体验淘金乐趣
附近也有米兰达温泉放松身心

There are also some paid entertainments in the town.  Visitors are able to visit and experience the goldmining here. There are also Miranda Hot Springs where visitors are able to enjoy a relaxing treat.

汉密尔顿花园 Halminton Gardens

汉密尔顿花园位于汉密尔顿市中心南边
在纽西兰北岛的国道一号公路上
与奥克兰、罗托鲁瓦和霍比屯相去不远
是个最佳的中途站

Located on State Highway 1 of New Zealand North island, Hamilton Gardens is just south of central Hamilton.  It is not far from Auckland, Rotorua and Hobbiton, which make it the perfect stopover when travelling.


这里停车位众多
停车、入场皆免费
各主题花园的开放时间各异
也因季节不同而有所改变
建议到官网查询开放时间

There are plenty of car parks available.  Both parking and entry are free.  The opening hour is differ between different garden collection and facilities, it will also change based on the season, thus it is recommended to check the latest opening hour from the official website.


这里原是一个荒凉的垃圾处理场
部分土地提供给了市政府作为公共花园
1960年汉密尔顿花园举行了开幕仪式
心在已占地超过54公顷
并还在继续修建中

This place used to be a bleak city rubbish dump.  Part of the land was passed over to Hamilton City Council for the purposes of a public garden and an opening ceremony for Hamilton Gardens was held in 1960.  The site is now over 54 hectares and there are construction still carry on now.

The Productive Collection planted variety of vegetables and herbs.  Despite that, there are also Cultivar Collection, Fantasy Collection and Landscape Collection which formed more than 20 gardens all together.

尤其是9月至10月
除了观赏各色的花朵
还可浸沐在自然的花香中

It is also like a botanical garden especially in September and October, there are flower blossom and it is the best perfume from the natural.

喝杯咖啡、吃点食物

Before leaving, visitors are able to have some coffee and meals at the Gardens Cafe.

奥克兰伊甸山 Auckland Mount Eden

伊甸山位于奥克兰市中心以南约4公里处
是纽西兰其中一个火山口
也是奥克兰市区内未经人造的最高自然景观

Mount Eden is about 4km south of the Auckland Central Business District.  It is one of the volcanic cones in New Zealand and is also the highest natural point in Auckland.


这里山顶可以观赏奥克兰的市区和海港360度全景
因此吸引许多的游客到来
由于大量车辆开往山顶易造成交通阻塞
目前已限制车辆只可停泊在半山腰
游客必须步行上山

A climb up to the summit allows visitors to have a panoramic 360-degree view over the city and harbour. However, due to large amount of vehicles driving up to the summit will cause traffic congestion, it is now restricted that vehicles are only able to park on halfway up to the moutain and visitors have to walk to the summit.


伊甸山火山口呈椭圆形
当年所喷发出来的岩浆多达5.6平方公里
可装满32,000个奥林匹克标准泳池
如今已长成了一片绿色草地

The volcano cone of Mount Eden has an oval shape.  The ancient lava flows when it erupted covered 5.6 square kilometres and its "bubble" contained enough lava to fill 32,000 Olympic swimming pools but it is already covered in green now.


虽说这已经是一个死火山
但仍需注意安全
尤其火山口附近的土质松软易散
因此应时刻走在规划好的步道上

Although the volcano is already dormant, visitors should still pay attention to the safety.  The fragile and sacred area is easily damaged thus visitors should use only the crater rim track.
