New Zealand Maritime Museum recorded the history of the New Zealanders greatest maritime pioneers and the migrations story of the Polynesian peoples, where people are driven to seek new possibilities with conviction.

From the first discovery by Kupe the migrations of Polynesian people followed by Europe's famous explorers who arrive at New Zealand few centuries later.  Find out what motivated these maritime pioneers who sailed across the Pacific.

The museum had some fully restored heritage fleets which allow visitors to get out on the water abroad for an hour experience with a fee.  The sailings depart 11.30am and 1.30pm on Tuesday to Sunday with great views of Auckland and the Habour Bridge.


奥克兰海事博物馆全年开放
只有圣诞节休馆
开放时间从早上10点至下午5点
成人收费NZD20，儿童NZD10
但奥克兰居民则可免费入场

The Auckland Maritime Museum is open daily from 10am to 5pm, except Christmas Day. It cost NZD20 for adult or NZD10 for child, but it is free for Aucklanders.

奥克兰皮哈海滩 Auckland Piha Beach

距离奥克兰西边45分钟路程
有个悠闲的海边小村 - 皮哈
这里的皮哈海滩
是冲浪爱好者的天堂
夏天许多人到此游泳、冲浪
救生员也会再次标记安全区

45 minutes west of Auckland city, there is a laid-back seaside village named Piha.  The Piha Beach located here is a popular surfing location.  In summer, many people come for swimming and surfing, lifesavers are patrolling at the beach and an area will be clearly flagged for swimmers.


皮哈海滩其中一个特点
就是因火山地区富含铁矿砂而形成的黑沙滩
黑色沙砾柔软细腻
但在夏季时得提防烫脚

One of the reasons Piha Beach is special is because of the black sand beach due to the high iron content which is of volcanic origin.  The black sand is soft but may burn your feet in summer.


这里的另一个特点
就是把南北皮哈海滩分隔开的狮子岩
狮子岩是天然形成的礁石
貌似雄狮趴在海滩上而得名

Another attraction there is the Lion Rock which divided the North and Soouth Piha beaches.  The Lion Rock is a natural formation and got the name as it looks like a male lion lying on the beach.


这里有步道可攀上狮子岩
但顶端因地质松软及会有落石
因此不可爬上顶端

There is a walking track up the Lion Rock but the summit is not accessible due to unstable ground and falling rocks.


在可抵达的高度可俯览整片海滩
亦可观赏日落
景色优美

At the highest accessible point is able to view the beach and the sunset.  Do not miss the stunning view.


最后，还可以到附近的咖啡厅
喝杯咖啡吃些小点
才启程离开

奥克兰法式农贸集市 Auckland French Market

位于帕奈尔的La Cigale法式农贸集市
连续八年被“吃客”杂志选为
奥克兰最佳美食集市

La Cigale French Market which located at Parnell was voted the Auckland's Best Food Market by Metro Magazine for the last 8 years.


 法国农贸集市的开始时间为
每周六上午8点至中午1点30分
及每周日上午9点至中午1点30分
这里的设计是参考法国的集市而成

The French Market is held every Saturday from 8am to 1.30pm and Sunday from 9am to 1.30pm.  It is inspired by the wonderful food markets found in France.


这里不仅有纽西兰当地生产制造的产品
也有许多进口的产品
从新鲜水果、蔬菜、鱼类、肉类、香肠
大新鲜出炉的面包、糕点、沙拉、果酱
甚至橄榄油、蜂蜜、乳酪
都可找到

There are amazing selections of top quality products from both New Zealand artisan producers and growers and from overseas.  You are able to find fresh fruits and vegetable there, as well as freshest fish, meat, sausage.  There are fresh breads and pastries hot from the oven, and also healthy salad, jams, extra virgin olive oils, honey and cheeses.

但会因为季节的不同而有所变化
有些只有在当季才可找到
但大部分却是全年都有

There are around 50 stalls in the market.  Some produce changes with season but most of the goodies can be found all year round.

Remember to visit the market next weekends, the mouthwatering sights and intoxicating smell could have already made your visit wonderful.

瓦纳温泉的怀阿里基温泉池 Waiariki Hot Pools at Ngawa Springs

在纽西兰北岛的北部有个少有人知的温泉
纳瓦温泉的怀阿里基温泉池
位于北部的地热区
同时也为北部提供了不少电力

Hidden in the Northland of New Zealand north island, there is a hot spring that is not known by most people.  The Waiariki Hot Pools at Ngawa Springs located at a geothermally active area and it produces a considerable amount of Northland's electricity.


这里对毛利人有着极大的历史价值
到此来享受温泉的同时
也该心存敬仰

It has a spiritual and historical significance to the Maori thus visitors should treat the place with respect.


且当地人对来者非常信任
当没有志愿者工作时
访客可自行将入门费放入诚实箱里

The locals trust the visitors with an honesty box placed outside the office, visitors can insert the entrance fee themselves when there is no staff in the office.


这里没有被商业化
也没有被大肆宣传
连收费也极其便宜
但这里设备简单
只有简单的男女更衣室
没有沐浴间
且需自备更换衣物、浴巾等

This place is not commercialised and not being widely promoted.  The entrance fee is very cheap but the facility is very basic.  There is no shower but only basic changing rooms, visitors have to bring their own clothes and towel.


怀阿里基温泉池共有15座温泉池
温度从32度到48度
颜色因矿物质的不同而有黑、灰、白三色
被当地人用来进行保健治疗
据说有缓解孕期不适、关节疼痛和皮疹的功效

There are 15 pools at Waiariki Hot Pools with the temperature range from 32 to 48 degree celsius.  The pool water have different colour, they are in black, grey or white base on the water chemistry.  It is known with the curative powers that gave relief to mothers with post-parturition pains, muscle pain and skin disorder.


在身上涂上火山泥对皮肤保养极好
但却会留下硫磺味
另外即使在寒冷的天气
浸泡温泉也会排汗
因此泡完温泉记得多喝水

It is good for skin to apply the mud over the body but you will smell rather sulphurous after that!  Besides that, soaking in the hot spring will help with perspiration, thus must remember to drink more water after that.

雷恩加角 Cape Reinga

雷恩加角位于纽西兰北岛的西北端
与最接近的城镇也相距100公里
虽然这里确是公路的尽头
因此常被误认为纽西兰的最北端
但30公里外的北望角的瑟维尔崖才是纽西兰的最北边
但因它是科研保护区
不对外开放

Cape Reinga located at the northwesternmost tip of New Zealand North Island, which is 100km away from the nearest small town of Kaitaia.  Although it is the end of the road, it is often mistakenly thought of as being the northernmost point of New Zealand but North Cape's Surville Cliffs which is 30km away is further north.  However, it is a scientific reserve and not opens to public.


“雷恩加”是毛利语
意为“阴间”
在毛利人的信念中
雷恩加角是人死后的灵魂进入阴间的地方
已故的毛利人的灵魂
会循着树根跃入大海中
返回祖先的家园哈外基

The word "Reinga" means "underworld" in Maori language.  Maori believe that the cape is the point where the spirits of the dead enter the underworld.  The spirits descend to the water on steps formed by the tree's roots and continue their journey to the spiritual home, Hawaiki.


雷恩加最为著名的建筑就是灯塔
这纽西兰最北端的灯塔建于1941年
并于当年点亮
1987年灯塔完全自动化
看守员也被解散

The lighthouse is the most popular building at Cape Reinga.  It was built in 1941 and first lit in the same year.  In 1987, the lighthouse was fully automated and the lighthouse keepers were withdrawn.


这里是西边的塔斯曼海河东边的太平洋交汇的地方
有壮观的海景
从灯塔望过去
可看见两海交汇冲刷而出的交界线

Cape Reinga is the separation marker between the Tasman Sea to the west and the Pacific Ocean to the east.  From the lighthouse it is possible to watch the tidal race as the two seas clash to create unsettled waters.


在过往，通往雷恩加角的道路有20公里的砂石路
2010年这最后一段路面才开始有了固化路面
最后的100公里路并无小镇或是城市
也只有一个油站
因此车子一定要确保有充足的燃料

The last 20km to the Cape Reinga used to be gravel road and was finally sealed in 2010.  There is no town or city at the last 100km and there is only 1 petrol station.  It is important to ensure that the vehicle has sufficient petrol.

郎吉卡皮蒂历史保护区 Rangikapiti Historical Reserve

郎吉卡皮蒂历史保护区
对纽西兰北部是一个重要地点
拥有阶梯状及一道防守着该地的鸿沟
成了它独具一格的特点

Rangikapiti Historical Reserve is a significant site to Ngati Kahu, the Northland of New Zealand.  The terraces and defensive ditch around the site make it a distinctive feature on the landscape.


这里有一大片的草地
小山丘上有座纪念碑
并有点点的麦卢卡花

This area is covered in grass while the top of the hill stood a memorial with Manuka flower encircling the top.


这里的山路简单易行
山丘并不高
逐渐增多的旅客到此的目的
是为了攀上小山丘观赏周围的海岸
如芒格努伊湾、库柏斯海滩和一望无际的放心湾

The track here is easy and the hilltop is easily accessible.  The increasing number of visitors is to view the panoramic views of the coastal from the hilltop, it provide a panoramic views to Mangonui Harbour, Coopers Beach and Doubtless Bay.

马塔普利美人鱼池 Matapouri Bay Mermaid Pool

 从方格雷往东
在纽西兰的图图卡卡地区
有个在落潮时由海水形成的天然水池
这个在巨大礁石中积累海水而成的水池
就是美人鱼池

Located at east of Whangarei, at Tutukaka of New Zealand, there is a natural pool which formed when it is low tide.  This pool which is formed between big rocks is known as the Mermaid Pool.


美人鱼池位于马塔普利海湾北面
2010年前通往美人鱼池需经过一道山洞
可惜因为落石而被迫关闭
自此欲通往美人鱼池
便需翻过山岭、经过陡峭的山路

Mermaid pool located north of Matapouri Bay, it used to be accessed by a hole-in-the-wall track but it was closed by a rock fall in 2010.  Since then people have to trek over a steep track to reach the pool.


由于美人鱼池逐渐被大众所认识
吸引了许多世界各地的游客到来
但其危险性也不该被忽视
除了陡峭的山路外
从外海打入池里的海浪会将池里的人打入池底
海水也可能将人拉出池
继而拉出海面

Mermaid Pool is getting more publicity and attracting tourists from round the world thus it is important for public to know the potential dangers.  Despite the steep track, the waves pounded the pool could knock the visitors under the pool or pull them into the sea.


在欣赏美人鱼池蔚蓝的海面
或是在池中游泳时
也应随时警惕
在涨潮前及时离开
否则，下山后通往马塔普利海湾的路
也会被海水所淹没

Visitors should stay alert while enjoy the clear blue water or swim in the Mermaid Pool and remember to leave the pool before high tide.  There is a risk that the path to Matapouri Bay will also be covered with sea water.
