Although Christianity is the predominant religion in
New Zealand, it also supports the freedom of conscience and belief. Fo Guang
Shan temple, which is the largest temple in New Zealand, is located at
Auckland, North Island.

Fo Guang Shan temple is open from Tuesday to Sunday,
9am to 5pm, as well as public holidays. It welcomes both Buddhists and
non-Buddhists to pay a visit and also provide activities and classes to the
public, such as Tai Chi, Dharma classes and Chinese calligraphy. Furthermore,
English Dharma & Meditation Classes are also provided to fit into the
requirement in New Zealand.
Fo Guang Chinese School provide an excellent learning
environment and foster talents through education.

The temple was designed in the architectural style of
the Tang Dynasty, which carries meaning with the different part of the designs.
Such as the lattice shape field in front of the main hall allude cultivated
field, which need to be hardworking, firm and patient to be successful, same as
the path of Dharma and Meditation.

Lots of trees planted in the temple. Pine trees, bamboo, cherry blossoms
and willows imparting an atmosphere of grace and elegance. The scene is different
in each season of the year but remain stately.

The story behind the Fo Guang Shan Water Drop Vege Café
is regarding compassion, a drop of water, a portion of gratitude.
Tea and vegetarian foods are served here. Have a meal and refresh here after visiting
the temple.
