马塔普利美人鱼池 Matapouri Bay Mermaid Pool

 从方格雷往东
在纽西兰的图图卡卡地区
有个在落潮时由海水形成的天然水池
这个在巨大礁石中积累海水而成的水池
就是美人鱼池

Located at east of Whangarei, at Tutukaka of New Zealand, there is a natural pool which formed when it is low tide.  This pool which is formed between big rocks is known as the Mermaid Pool.


美人鱼池位于马塔普利海湾北面
2010年前通往美人鱼池需经过一道山洞
可惜因为落石而被迫关闭
自此欲通往美人鱼池
便需翻过山岭、经过陡峭的山路

Mermaid pool located north of Matapouri Bay, it used to be accessed by a hole-in-the-wall track but it was closed by a rock fall in 2010.  Since then people have to trek over a steep track to reach the pool.


由于美人鱼池逐渐被大众所认识
吸引了许多世界各地的游客到来
但其危险性也不该被忽视
除了陡峭的山路外
从外海打入池里的海浪会将池里的人打入池底
海水也可能将人拉出池
继而拉出海面

Mermaid Pool is getting more publicity and attracting tourists from round the world thus it is important for public to know the potential dangers.  Despite the steep track, the waves pounded the pool could knock the visitors under the pool or pull them into the sea.


在欣赏美人鱼池蔚蓝的海面
或是在池中游泳时
也应随时警惕
在涨潮前及时离开
否则，下山后通往马塔普利海湾的路
也会被海水所淹没

Visitors should stay alert while enjoy the clear blue water or swim in the Mermaid Pool and remember to leave the pool before high tide.  There is a risk that the path to Matapouri Bay will also be covered with sea water.
