方格雷瀑布 Whangarei Falls

方格雷瀑布位于离方格雷市区往北仅6公里距离
被公园和灌木丛所围绕
号称纽西兰“最上镜的瀑布”
高度约有26米

Whangarei Falls located 6km north from Whangarei city centre.  It is a 26m high waterfall surrounded by park and native bush and is known as the most photogenic waterfall in New Zealand.

从半个小时到4个小时不等

There are plenty of parking spaces available at Whangarei Falls, the entry is free, and there is also a picnic area.  There are several short walks and longer walks which range from half hour to 4 hours.

为了让河水在水位高涨时不造成阻碍
铁桥并没有扶手
是个特别的体验

The tracks begin from a metal bridge cross over the river.  It is designed for flood water to run over it so there is no hand rail, which is a special experience to walk on.

或是到瀑布下方近距离观赏瀑布
瀑布的循环步道只需半个小时
即可到3个瞭望台观赏壮观的方格雷瀑布

There are 3 platforms for you to view the waterfall either from above the fall, or by walking down a track and view the fall closely from the bottom.  The Circular Walk to the base of Falls only take half hour and you will be able to view the spectacular Whangarei Falls from all the 3 platforms.

Whangarei is the northernmost city in New Zealand with a mild climate.  Furthermore, visitors will pass by this beautiful harbour city on their way to the north attractions such as Cape Reinga and Bay of Island.

这里的码头更是帆船爱好者的天堂

Despite the Whangarei city, the area around the Town Basin at the harbour-side is another fully developed area of the city.  Town Basin Marina is also now an important international yacht haven.

Here is also the home for many art and craft gallery, and there is a chance to view the glass blowers to produce exquisite pieces of art work.

Visitors are also able to view a colourful architectural sculpture which serve as "the seed" of the proposed construction of the Hundertwasser Art Centre.

It is in the shape of a "koru" using all the elements of Hundertwasser's style and serve as a test bed for the construction of the Art Centre.

怀普 Waipu

怀普是纽西兰北岸的一个小镇
由于这里没有丰富的天然资源
因此一直维持着安详宁静的面貌
人口也一直维持在1,500人左右
未有剧烈的变化

Waipu is a small town at the Northland of New Zealand.  It has been remaining as a quiet and peaceful town with  population of around 1,500.  There is no significant fluctuation in the population as there is no natural resource there.


这里最著名的是它的海滩布里姆湾
海浪迷人
吸引许多人前往冲浪

It is famous of its beach, Bream Bay.  There are strong wave along the beach and attracted surfers to visit this place.


海滩边就是怀普沿海步道
步道从海滩上的最后一个石凳子对面开始
涨潮时可能需要越过一条小溪水
才可到达

Waipu Coastal Walkway is just next to the beach, the track begins from the opposite of the last concrete bench.  If the tide is in, you may need to cross a stream to begin the journey.

若想挑战全程
则需时2个小时

It took only 10 minutes to reach a small hillside which allows a spectacular view of the beach.  The full trail will take 2 hours to complete.

普霍伊奶酪村 Puhoi Cheese Valley

1863年波西米亚移民因土地吸引
83位移民在普霍伊这个小镇定居了下来
并建立了属于自己的农场

The offer of free land in 1863 attracted 83 emigrants from Bohemians to settle down in Puhoi.  After clearing the land, they maintain their farm and continue to work as farmers until today.


1983年，普霍伊奶酪工厂设立
并创立了“普霍伊山谷”这个品牌
尽可能使用纽西兰原料
使用羊奶、牛奶、水果等
制作冰淇淋、奶酪等奶制品

A manufacturing plant was built in 1983 and the brand "Puhoi Valley" was incorporated.  They source the material locally wherever possible, like milk, cream, fruits and produce into ice cream, cheese and other milk products.


这里的奶酪和冰淇淋得奖无数
尤其是其冰淇淋连续三年获得精品冰淇淋
引得阵阵人潮涌入这个小镇

Their cheese and ice cream won numerous of awards, especially their ice cream had won the supreme award for boutique ice cream 3 years in running, attracted a large crowd to visit this small village.

沃克沃思山羊岛 Warkworth Goat Island

靠近沃克沃思的山羊岛
是纽西兰第一个海洋保护区
早期欧洲探险者将没有淡水的沿海岛屿称作“山羊岛”
把山羊留在这作为沉船生存者的食物

Goat Island which is near to Warkworth is the oldest marine reserve in New Zealand.  Early European explorers often called any small coastal island without fresh water as "Goat Island" as goats could be left there to provide food for possible shipwreck survivors.


海洋保护区致力于让自然生态维持原本的面貌
山羊岛的海水透明度高
水草、鱼类等海底生物多
无论是浮潜、潜水，甚至只是走在石头上
也可欣赏海底风光

Marine reserve protects representative coast and leaving it in its nature state.  Goat Island has crystal clear water, and is rich in fish and other marine life.  Visitors will have the opportunity t view the marine life either by snorkeling, diving, or just walking on the rocks.

不要捕捉鱼类或是喂鱼
更不可留下任何垃圾

Visitors are advised to leave every creature and area in the reserve in its natural state.  Do not fishing or feeding, they are good at finding their own food.  Lastly, remember to take our own rubbish home.

Goat Island is suitable for swimming, snorkeling, diving and kayaking.  Snorkel hire is available at the coast.  Another choice to view the marine life in a dry way is to take the Glass Bottom Boat which depart on 9am every weekend, the fee for each person will be $75.

There is a small waterfall at the end of the beach, Marine Discovery Centre and a walk way are also nearby.  This place is suitable for a family weekend outing.

沃克沃思奥马哈海滩 Warkworth Omaha Beach

靠近沃克沃思的奥马哈海滩
是冲浪和帆板爱好者的天堂
这里的沙滩坡度平缓
也没有危险的海洋生物
因此非常适合游泳和冲浪

Omaha Beach which is near to Warkworth is a great place for people to surf and paddleboard. The slope is gentle and the beach is free from harmful sea lives which make it suitable to swim and surf.

意思是欢乐的地方
这里的沙有超过70%含石英砂成分
也因此造就了这里的白沙滩

Omaha means "place of pleasure" in Maori. The beach sediment composition is over 70% quartz sand, which gifted the beach the natural white appearance.

Summer is the peak season for surfing.  In order to secure the safety of the visitors, lifeguards are on duty all summer which is very considerate.

There is a large field next to the beach for public use. Next to it is the Omaha Beach Golf Club, with its scenic location sitting next to the beach and Omaha estuary.

Here provides the basic facilities such as the toilet and bathroom.  There are also hotplates for cooking available here.

想离开城市到小地方走走？
周末到马塔卡纳的农贸市集是个不错的选择

Thinking of going out from the city and visit a village? A weekend to the Matakana Farmers' Market could be a right choice.

每个星期六的早上8点至中午1点
马塔卡纳的农贸市集都吸引大批的人潮
这个市集非常有名
除了吃的喝的用的
还可买到许多手工艺品、手工啤酒、自制奶酪等
许多当地人带上自己的有机农作物、手工作品到此兜售

Open every Saturday from 8am to 1pm, Matakana Farmers’ Market attracts a large crowd of people. This market does not only sell food and drinks, but also very popular of artisan, locally-brewed beer, home-made cheese and lots of other items.

Local growers and farmers gather here with their organic crops and handcraft items for sales.

马塔卡纳是个宁静的小镇

Matakana is a quiet and small village, it is comfortable and relaxing. The seats for the stalls selling food also pay a lot of detail with the decoration. Beside the stalls is a stream where lots of people sitting next to the stream and enjoy the nice food and good view.

There is also an opportunity shop near to the Farmers’ Market. Every Saturday it is only open from 10am to 12pm， but it is also open on Wednesday and Friday.

Here is able to buy some second hand clothes, kitchenware, furniture and other old goodies with very low price.

There are also some shops nearby where we can find supermarkets, book stores, skincare shops, fashion stores and cinema. Visitors are able to spend quite sometimes here.

It is easily half day spent here.  Adding in other attractions nearby, it will be a fun and fulfilling weekend waiting ahead.

The Honey Centre at Warkworth provides an experience of honey to their visitors. They strive to produce the best honey in New Zealand but not just about selling honey.

Here not only have a large variety of vegetables and fruits, but also very fresh.  Visitors will be able to find a lot of cheap yet good items here.
