罗托鲁瓦红杉步道 Rotorua The Redwoods

距离罗托鲁瓦市区10分钟路程的红杉步道

The Redwoods is 10 minutes away from Rotorua city.  Visitors will be surrounded by the tall and giant red woods and are able to enjoy a walk in a more than 110-year-old forest.  Or go up to the tree walk and view the forest from high with a fee.

It is open every day except for Christmas, from 8.30am to 6pm in summer and closed earlier at 5pm in winter.  The Redwoods walkway is free in day time and some facilities such as the car park is also free.

There are several walking tracks here, the short walks will take half an hour to one hour and the longest walk will take up to four hours.  it is also suitable for dog walking, jogging, biking and even horse riding.  It also won a lot of award by meeting a range of criteria such as safety qualify of facilities, historical features and overall management.

Due to the New Zealand native trees grow very slowly, government area looking for species that's most suitable for commercial harvesting thus seeds were imported from around the world.  The first Californian Coast Redwoods were planted in 1901.


2015年红杉吊桥正式开放

是由21座吊桥围绕着22棵红杉建造
在不破坏树木的前提下
使用可支持5吨重量的吊索支撑

The Redwoods Tree Walk which is 12 metres off the ground was opened in 2015.  It is made up by 21 bridges suspended by 22 redwood trees using slings that can hold up to five tones so that no tree will be harmed.


2016年红杉步道在夜间开放
挂上了30个由纽西兰设计师设计的灯笼
并打上五颜六色的灯光
在每晚的6点后
制造一个极具特色的夜间体验

The Redwoods Nightlights opened at the Tree Walk in 2016, with 30 suspended lanterns designed by New Zealand designer and multiple coloured spot lights illuminating the forest to create an unique night time experience from 6pm onward.

The entrance fee for day time and night time is NZD25 each for adult, but a day and nightlights combo will cost only NZD35. There are also discounts for child and senior citizens, the detail can be obtained from the official website.

陶波阿拉蒂亚蒂亚激流 Taupo Aratiatia Rapids

距离陶波市区只有15分钟路程的阿拉蒂亚蒂亚激流
这一河段
怀卡托河在一公里下降了28米
纽西兰因此建立了水坝
将水流引至此
利用水力发电

Aratiatia Rapids is only 15 minutes away from Taupo city, here the Waikato River falls 28 metres in the space of 1km. Thus New Zealand had built a dam to produce hydroelectric power.


阿拉蒂亚蒂亚激流入口处设有免费停车场
可直接驱车前往
或是步行两个小时从胡卡瀑布抵达
还可沿途欣赏怀卡托河的景色

Free car parks are available at the entrance to Aratiatia Rapids thus it is very convenience to drive all the way to the entrance. Another way is to take the two hours walking track from Huka Falls, and enjoy the view of Waikato River.

The winter release hours are 10am, 12pm and 2pm, with an additional release hour at 4pm in summer, with such Aratiatia Rapids will be gradually filled up.  The walking track from the car park to the viewpoint is easy.

There are three viewpoints which provide a spectacular sight when the dam is opened.  Watch the gate open and release the full flow of the river and restores the river into normal height just next to the car park.  Another choice is the 5 minutes' walk to the mid viewpoint and feel the water bursting down.

The walking track to the top viewpoint is 10 minutes away from the car park, visitors are able to have a full view of the rapids. The dam gate is closed after half an hour and the water flow will gradually reduce.

The water flow here is deep and fast, there are notices that it is not suitable to go into the water.  It is also where the scene of the dwarves escaping by hiding in barrels which were thrown down stream in The Hobbit movie is shot.

威灵顿维多利亚山 Wellington Mount Victoria

位于威灵顿市区中心的维多利亚山顶
可360度全景欣赏威灵顿城市、海港景致

Located right next to the central business district, Mount Victoria Lookout has the stunning panoramic views of Wellington city and harbor, as well s a best spot in the city for viewing sunrise or sunset.


前往山顶可自行驾车或乘搭巴士抵达
山上有数个停车场
极为方便
但山路坡度倾斜、狭隘
驾车必须注意安全

Visitors can drive their own car or catch a bus to the lookout, it is very convenience to drive all the way up since there are few car parks at the lookout point but the way up is steep and narrow thus it is important to be careful while driving.

Another way is to take a walkway to the hill top.  Mount Victoria is part of the Wellington Town Belt, a series of park land reserved and granted to the city for public recreation and this area features many tracks used for walking, jogging and mountain biking.

威灵顿海港市集 Wellington Harbourview Market

威灵顿最古老却也最著名的市集
当属位于蒂帕帕国家博物馆旁的周日市集
有人称它为怀唐伊市集、蒂帕帕市集或是查费尔斯市集
但它已被正名统称为海港市集

The oldest and most popular market in Wellington is the Sunday market located next to the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa.  It is being referred by several names such as Waitangi Park Market, Te Papa Market or Chaffeers Market but it has undergone a name change and is now known as Harbourside Market.


每个星期日早上7点30分至中午1点
夏季则延长至2点
市集里云集了各式各样的
蔬菜水果、鲜花、鸡蛋、肉类、海鲜
还有热食、饮料、冰淇淋等

The market open every Sunday morning from 7.30pm until 1pm and is extended to 2pm in summer.  The stalls in the market sell vegetables fruit, fresh flowers, eggs, meat, seafood, hot foods, drinks, ice cream and lots of other items.

The market located on the beautiful waterfront next to the museum and it is always crowded.  It is usually very difficult to find a car park nearby but during the market hour car park is provided at $2 per hour.

Public toilets as well as lost and found are available in the market.  Reusable market bags are also sold in the market to eliminate plastic bag usage.

威灵顿蒂帕帕国家博物馆 Wellington Te Papa Tongarewa

威灵顿的蒂帕帕国家博物馆
是纽西兰的国家级博物馆
名字是毛利文“这片土地上的珍宝”的意思
建筑物更成了当地的标志

Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa located in Welllington, it is the national museum and art gallery of New Zealand. The name means "the place of treasures of this land" in Maori, and has become the landmark building situated in the heart of Wellington.

陶波胡卡瀑布 Taupo Huka Falls

就在距离陶波湖不远的地方
即使纽西兰著名的自然景观
胡卡瀑布
因水柱的冲力巨大
冲撞出浅蓝色的水色及许多泡沫
因此得名“胡卡”
毛利问为泡沫的意思

Not far away from Lake Taupo is the famous natural landscape, Huka Falls The water from the upstream plunging over the falls it picks up masses of tumbling air bubbles which create breathtaking colours and give the falls their name, after the maori word for "foam".

The roaring of the water rumble at great speed can be heard before entering the view point of Huka Falls. About 200,000 litres of water flowing over the falls every second and this is enough to fill five Olympic swimming pools every minute.

Just before the Huka Falls it enters a shallow ravine of hard volcanic rock.  The waters roar and rumble at great speed along the ravine before bursting into space out over Huka Falls to crash into the turbulent pool 11 metres below.

罗托鲁瓦怀欧塔普地热世界 Rotorua Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland

纽西兰最著名的地热区
当属罗托鲁瓦的怀欧塔普地热世界
活跃的地热区

Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland is the most iconic geothermal area in New Zealand. It is an active geothermal area, the geothermal beneath the earth result in the colourful appearance.


成人入门票NZD32.50
5至15岁小孩则收费NZD11
包含了地热世界和诺克斯夫人间歇泉的门票
诺克斯夫人间歇泉每天上午10点15分喷发
最高水柱可达20米

Adult entrance ticket cost NZD32.50, and it cost only NZD11 for child between 5 to 15 years old. It included entrance tickets to both Thermal Park and Lady Knox Geyser. The geyser is induced to erupt daily at 10.15am and it produces a jet of water reaching up to 20m.

The thermal pools can be very hot, visitors are advice to take extra care in the park.  Smoking is not allowed. Slippers, sandals or high helled shoes are not suitable and visitors are required to walk on the tracks.

Three walkways are connected and the pathways are well-maintained.  Several shelters along the walkway for visitors to rest and it is designed to maximise safe viewing experiences.

The thermal pool may form a thin crust over the top of them and looks like a solid surface, but it will break if a person stood on it. The temperature can reach 100℃ and the terrain maybe uneven. Visitors are recommended to obey the safety signs.

周边也有许多红木生长

除了烟雾腾腾外
地热区内也有宁静的一幕

The geothermal area result in many hot springs formed around this area.  Out of it, the mud pools are the most well-known hot spring.  There are also red woods around this area which give a different view out from the thermal pools that is quiet and peaceful.

陶朗加莫图里基岛 Tauranga Moturiki Island

陶朗加的莫图里基岛
是纽西兰其中一个最容易进入的小岛
一条人工填土的道路
连接着芒格努伊山的沙滩与小岛
岛里步道平坦易行
只需10分钟即可抵达终点

Moturiki island located in Tauranga is one of the most accessible island in New Zealand.  It is connected to Mount Maunganuui's main beach by a man-made land bridge.  The walkway is flat and easy, it took only 10 minutes to reach the end of the track.


这里的历史丰富
曾是毛利部落居住的地方
1900年代初又成了采石场
之后则改为娱乐用途
1966年开了水族馆
15年后又改建成了之后大为人知的“休闲岛”
有游泳池、水上滑梯和高尔夫球场等
直到1990年关闭

The island is full of history, it used to be inhabited by Maori settlers, and later established as a quarry in early 1900s.  It was later being used for tourist attractions.  In the beginning an aquarium was built in 1966 fifteen years later it was replaced by another venture and it is still known until today as the "Leisure Island". There are large pools for swimming, waterslide and golf course and it operated until 1990.

Visitors are also able to collect paua, kina and mussel at the beach but the daily limit must be strictly followed.  There are also a lot of stalls nearby, why don't have an ice cream at the hot weather.
